ABOUT US
THE SPANISH SWAN BALLET
The Spanish Swan Ballet is more than a performance—it’s a love letter to community, culture, and the arts. Created by dancer, teacher, and choreographer Lorena Gomez-Maese, this original 30-minute ballet was designed to be accessible to dancers of all ages and experience levels. Paired with a beautifully illustrated children’s book, the ballet brings story and movement together in a way that’s uplifting, inclusive, and unforgettable.

MEET THE CREATOR
A Legacy of Movement & Meaning
Lorena Gomez-Maese is a lifelong artist, choreographer, and performer born and raised in San Pedro, California. Her family has lived in the community for six generations, carrying with them a deep-rooted love for the arts. Lorena began dancing at just four years old, later joining two professional dance companies before going on to direct, teach, and choreograph for stages and schools across Southern California.
After decades of performing, choreographing, and teaching, she dreamed of creating something that would honor her heritage and ignite imagination in young dancers everywhere. The result was The Spanish Swan Ballet—a project that blends storytelling, faith, and community in one joyful expression of dance.
Today, Lorena continues to uplift the next generation through this heartfelt production, sharing her passion for tradition, culture, music, and movement with children, families, and communities—starting in San Pedro and reaching far beyond.

MEET THE COMPOSER
The Music Behind the Movement
Juan Antonio Simarro is an award-winning Spanish composer and pianist known for his emotive, cinematic compositions that bridge classical tradition and contemporary expression. His music, featured in The Spanish Swan Ballet, brings depth, movement, and feeling to the story’s every step. With a gift for crafting melodies that linger long after the final note, Simarro’s work helps breathe life into the ballet’s most meaningful moments—uniting story, sound, and stage in harmony.
